ABOUT
PERSONALIZED TRAINING AND FUEL FOR THE FIRE
I am Annie Bothma, an endurance athlete, sports nutritionist, and running coach. I am a South African national marathon champion, have represented South Africa twice at the World Cross Country Championships, and have won the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and the Durban International Marathon.
I offer personalized coaching services for runners, creating programs that fit each athlete’s unique needs, training history, and goals. My approach is shaped by the knowledge I have gained from world-class mentors such as Erick Kimayo (coach to Brigid Kosgei, former world marathon record holder—whom I had the privilege of training with for several months in Kenya), Olympian Zola Budd, Bennie Stander, and Johan Fourie, along with my own journey as a high-level athlete.

Academically, I achieved a distinction in my Master’s degree in Performance Sport Nutrition (IOPN, EQF Level 7) and have continued to expand my expertise through multiple postgraduate diplomas, certifications, and advanced courses in nutrition and coaching. I also studied Exercise Science in the United States, became a certified running coach, completed a children’s coaching development course, and worked as a YMCA coach while competing on an NCAA Division I scholarship. Additionally, I am qualified as a Master Personal Trainer through the International Sports Science Association.

My passion for nutrition grew out of my own experiences as an athlete, where I discovered how proper fueling could transform performance, recovery, and long-term health. Athletes often neglect this key component of training, and my goal is to combine evidence-based sports nutrition with practical coaching to help them perform at their best while building resilience, health, and enjoyment in the sport.
